Party Time

Saturday morning we went to a birthday party for my friend Jill's kiddos - Lexi (3) and Luke (1). The party was at a gym out in Olathe where they had lots of toys and bouncey stuff for kids to play on. There were even a few things that Hannah could play on - and she had a good time.

Visitors

A few of my friends were in town last week/weekend. Thursday night Lisa (who was in town from Chicago), her son Brady, and Jenny came over to have pizza with us. We did our best to get some cute photos of the two little ones. Then over the weekend Anita and Andy were in town from Denver - and Saturday night Anita came over to meet Hannah.

Winking

A week or so ago Hannah made the discovery that she could close both eyes like she was winking at you. At first I think she would do it because she realized she could close them as something got closer to them. Then I think she realized how cute and funny we thought it was so she started to do it for us when we would prompt her to. Here's a picture of Hannah giving her Grammy a wink.

Rub A Dub Dub

Last week Hannah got a fancy new tub. She really likes it and can play with her toys and splash around more than in her baby tub. Although her new favorite thing to do is to try to reach for the water spout and to try to stand up in the tub...not matter how many toys we give her.

Rock Chalk

Friday night we met friends out at the KU Football Kick-off in Corinth Square. Hannah was all decked out in her KU cheerleader outfit. She looked pretty darn cute - and was a real trooper. We even ran into John's cousin Sean and his little boy Zane. Hannah did not get to give Coach Mangino a high five - but she was happy to celebrate with her Jayhawk buddies.

So big

Hannah is getting so big! Last night while she was playing in her pack and play she pulled herself up to a standing position. We were so proud and so was she - but a little freaked out...time to move down the floor on the pack and play I guess. A whole new world is coming our way.

Cousins

Sunday afternoon Hannah got to have some playtime with her cousins Addalyn and Macey. As you can see, we tried to get them to pose for some pics but we learned that it was pretty much impossible to get the 3 of them to look and smile at the same time. They are all getting so big!

The "rock"

So Hannah really (really) wants to crawl these days. Anytime she is on her stomach, she brings her knees in and rocks front and back with all her might. We thought she was gonna take off many times already. She has gotten really good at traveling on the floor even without crawling. Here's a video demonstrating her skills. It's kinda quiet - cause she is concentrating.

Any gray hair yet?

Tonight John and Hannah walked around the corner and said "look mommy" (well John said it for her). She was so excited to be up on John's shoulders...and had a firm grip on her daddy's hair. She looked so darn happy - and didn't want to let go to get down. She liked her new view from the top - and reported that there were no gray hairs on her daddy's head yet.

Hannah's got a lot to say....

Here's a video of Hannah "talking" to me... She's really starting to talk up a storm! So cute...

Hannah's Eyes

On Monday afternoon we took Hannah to the eye doctor. We had noticed that her right eye seemed to not be tracking/crossing at some points, so our pediatrician said it would be good to have it checked out. Hannah actually did good during the 2+ hour appointment which included getting her eyes dilated, but the outcome was not that great. They told us that she has Duane Syndrome in her left eye (her right eye is actually fine...which the doctor demonstrated to us). Basically it means that she will never be able to turn her left eye out. It’s a nerve issue (the nerve either isn’t there or is miswired) and therefore cannot be repaired. She may have to have surgery after she is one or so to work on some of the muscles in that eye so that she doesn’t have a little head turn/tilt when she is looking straight ahead. Her vision looks good and she doesn’t seem to have any other problems due to this that they can see. We are still taking it all in and trying to gather as much information as possible. This of course is a rare form of Strabismus (affecting only 1% of the population) - so there's not a whole lot out there. We are going to go for a second opinion - and hopefully get more questions answered...since we were a little dumbfounded on Monday. We have faith that it will all be OK...and that are smiley little lady will be undaunted by this, as she has been so far.

Here's a link to some more information http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Duane_syndrome - they can explain it better than me.
